Chartreuse (ʃɑ: rˈtru: z)

Happy Monday! To brighten your day, here’s a little history lesson and an introduction to one of my most favorite colors.  Chartreuse…

Did you know that the color chartreuse was actually named because of its resemblance to the green and yellow French liquors?  Chartreuse appears in a variety of shades from yellowish-green to a strong greenish-yellow.  I like mine borderline neon  à la Julie Bowen.  Which ever way you want to look at it, it is certainly sure to stop traffic.

And in my humble opinion, chartreuse was the color of the night at the Emmy’s. Julie Bowen looked FANTASTIC.

(If you missed the Emmy’s, make it a point to set aside a few hours to waste this week and catch some YouTube clips from the show. You won’t regret it.)

It seems that great minds think alike, because all three brightly clad actors above ended the night with an Emmy in their hand.  While Moore and Danes are modeling more of a simple yellow, I think it was a bold and beautiful choice.

I like to imagine I started the trend…

Shoes: Dillard’s

Yellow, yellow-green, green chartreuse, yellow chartreuse…whatever you want to call it.  It’s one of my favorite color groups all year round.  It just makes me so happy. Fingers crossed we see more of it in stores this fall/winter.  There is nothing like wearing a bright, show stopping color in the dead cold when everyone least expects it!

I love Chartreuse too! And I loved your dress! Your arm candy is a pretty goofy dude, but I think he’s ok.

I love bringing out bright colors in the middle of winter too! There are no rules.
